injecties (injections)
By Paul Bogaert
A modern building. Everyone is present. Waiting for an experiment to start. A woman in a hospital bed is enjoying the paradisiacal atmosphere outside. Until she is rolled inside. Two nurses start a treatment in which injections are combined with language.
Utilizing appropriated news reel and vocational video, along with a poetic voiceover, Paul Bogaert conjures a speculative narrative of an undefined, though apparently utopian medical treatment. As two nurse give the patient repeated injections, one says to the other, “There’s not enough room between your ears, so let the bird loose.” The story, explained through Bogaert’s prose poetry produces interesting dynamics between word and moving image. Works of this sort demonstrate the centrality of the Internet as a material resource for the making of art works.
